Mobile broadband

What is mobile broadband?

The big advantage of a netbook is that you can take it anywhere with you. And of course wherever you happen to be you want to connect to the internet. Mobile broadband lets you connect your netbook securely to the internet just about anywhere you can make a mobile phone call. No wires, no electricity socket, just a wireless connection by means of a little plug-in device called a USB modem, or “dongle”. And none of the security worries you get with ordinary wifi as your connection and data are fully encrypted.

So how do I get my netbook connected?

Just like a mobile phone, you need a contract with a mobile telecoms company. This can either be PAYG (pay as you go) or monthly depending on how you are going to use your netbook. They supply the dongle and the internet connection. You  plug the dongle into your netbook, it’s as easy as that.
